Mica Members take home the Silver (& Gold!) ware at Hardware Retailer of the Year.

Mainlys of Devizes Mica Hardware; a store still yet to celebrate its 3rd birthday - and who received a Silver Award in the 2011 Hardware Retailer of the Year category - this time went one better.
Taking joint Gold at the prestigious DIYweek Awards for the Hardware Industry, Mainlys now sharing the title of ‘Britain’s Best Hardware Store’ with one other shop in the whole of the UK. Needless to say owners Colin & Clare Henrich were delighted, saying
“We’re so pleased that all the hard work the team have put in over the last year has paid off, we were delighted to take a Silver position last year, but to go one better is so exciting! We want to thank all our customers for their loyal business and promise not to let this go to our heads, it’s our friendly and helpful customer service that has got us where we are, and together with continuing to offer great products & value will take us forward!”

Mainlys Mica weren’t the only Mica store recognised at the awards, however, Halls Mica Hardware, based in Chapel-en-Le-Frith, were another of only five stores nationally to be shortlisted for the prize, taking home Silver on the night.
Owners Joyce & Harry Hall, having been delighted to also make the shortlist were disappointed on the night, but overall were delighted that the Mica named appeared on the trophy, saying:
“We’d have loved to have won, especially for our staff most of whom have worked with us since near or at the beginning, but really though when the dust has settled we’re just so happy to have got this far. Being recognised amongst the five best Hardware stores in the country is a real badge of honour which we will wave with great pride. We’d like to offer our congratulations to Colin & Clare, and are really happy that if it couldn’t go to us, it went to another Mica store who clearly take just as much pride in their store as we do.”

This is the first time in living memory that Mica have had not only two members nominated, but also the overall winner.
Said Mica CEO Steve Ball,
“We hope that this success for our Mica members will not only give both stores cause for celebration and local recognition, but also reflect more widely on the whole group adding to our reputation for excelling in customer service, store standards and product knowledge.”

On behalf of the whole membership, retail directors and staff we congratulate everyone who has worked so hard at both stores to be classed amongst the best retail stores in the UK.
