Article : Morris Mica Hardware Shortlisted for Hardware Retailer of the Year

Date: Monday 9th December, 2013

Following double success in 2011, with Gold & Silver Winners, and a Silver winner in 2011, we can reveal that a Mica store has been not only awarded Silver in the Hardware Retailer of the Year 2013 contest, but has also been shorlisted for Gold.

Morris Mica Hardware, in Alcester, has been nominated ahead of entries from retailers across the UK, despite a tough judging panel. Two other Mica retailers narrowly missed out on being shortlisted in what was the most popular category of the Industries ’DIYweek’ sponsored Awards.

The store has a long heritage in the competition, having won the inaugural award in 1995. Said Steve Ball, CEO of Mica,

“Following Mainlys and Halls success in recent years it is great to see Mica stores again leading the way in the marketplace, may the best (Mica) store win!”

Their application emphasised community work, improved takings and a recent welcome refit following the completion of town flood defences amongst many other things.

Last November saw Mainlys of Devizes Mica, of Wiltshire, scoop the joint top prize for the year with Halls Mica Hardware, of Chapel-En-Le-Frith, Derbyshire, reaching the top five with a Silver Awards.

From everyone at Mica we would like to congratulate David, Maria and the team (pictured), we wish them the best of luck with the judging!
