Article : Record Amount Raised at Charity Gala

Date: Friday 29th September, 2017

Mica’s Annual conference, the Mica Exchange, was held from the 23rd to the 25th September 2017. We are proud to announce that our independent retailers along with attending suppliers at this year’s Gala Dinner have raised a record figure for our charity partner the Rainy Day Trust.

The trust supports those in the hardware industry who have fallen on hard times, providing grants, free legal advice, free debt advice, free telephone counselling and through a partnership with Shelter free housing advice.

The total raised on the night was over £900 which when including gift aid is expected to exceed £1100 pounds. This is the largest sum raised at the annual Mica Dinner for the trust, and our CEO Michael Ball commented:
“This is a fantastic donation to a very deserving cause. Many thanks to everyone attending for digging deep, and to all suppliers who donated a prize to make it a real wow prize table.”

The top prize was won by David Hidgcock of David Neill Mica Home & DIY, who picked up a Weekend Hotel break with Dinner for 2. Daughter in law Becki Hidgcock won the Giant Dulux Dog, and Paul Thornell of RKW won the widescreen TV donated by Stax Trade Centres.
